Slightly richer, yet still a leaner, more fresh example of this cuvee, the 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc Barberini (70% Roussanne, 20% Clairette and 10% Grenache Blanc) offers up brilliant notes of ripe peaches, vanilla creme, toasted almonds and hints of brioche. Aged mostly in new French oak, it is a rich, medium to full-bodied white that has balancing acidity and freshness. Deserving of a classy meal, it should have 4-5 years of prime drinking. Drink now-2018.
