Guigal's standard white wine cuvees, especially his Cotes du Rhone, have shown continued improvement, although it was more difficult to turn out a concentrated, ripe wine in 1992 and 1993 than in 1990. Both the 1991 and 1992 cuvees of white Hermitage I tasted were medium-bodied wines. The 1991 is a softer, riper, richer wine made in a precocious, flattering style. It is best drunk in its first 7-8 years of life. Readers should also look for the 1990 white Hermitage, which I have reviewed in the past. It is the richest, most concentrated white Hermitage Guigal has recently produced.
