Tasted from magnum, the 2000 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru les Cras is a little gem. It has a sense of vibrancy and transparency on the nose that was not expressed to such a degree by the 1998: Morello cherries, a touch of copper piping and desiccated orange peel. The palate is not tremendously concentrated, but that is compensated by the balance and the verve of this wine. There is charm here, and purity. With its poised finish, it completes a lovely Chambolle-Musigny that defies what was a challenging Burgundy vintage. Tasted September 2015.
