The lightest of the premier crus is the 1991 Vosne-Romanee-Les Chaumes. It exhibits a medium ruby color, a fine, moderately scented bouquet of cherries, herbs, and toast, and moderate tannins in the finish. The overall level of concentration is good rather than spectacular. The spicy, compact finish suggests it is best drunk young, before the fruit fades. Importer: Martine's Wines, San Rafael, CA.
NOTES ON THE 1992s FROM BARREL: Meo's 1992s are among the most successful wines made in the Cote de Nuits in that vintage. They are even softer than the 1991s, with excellent concentration for the vintage.
