One of the stars of Burgundy, Robert Jayer has begun the decade of the nineties with what appear to be the finest wines he has ever made. No one makes better Hautes Cotes de Nuits and Cote de Nuits-Villages than Jayer. As the numbers attest, these are thrilling, even amazing wines.
1990 is the first vintage for Jayer's Nuits St.-Georges-Les Hauts Poirets. Aromas of jammy black-cherries and new oak jump from the glass. In the mouth, the wine exhibits super-richness, medium to full body, soft tannins, and admirable length. It should drink well for the next 10-15 years.
