The deep ruby/purple-tinged 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford possesses an earthy bouquet with the fruit pushed to the background. More structured, tannic, and austere than its sibling, the Rutherford cuvee is a more Bordeaux-like effort. It may be less of a sure bet for long-term cellaring. If the tannin melts away, and the fruit comes forward, it will merit a score in the upper eighties. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2015.
