The 2004 Cote Rotie La Garde has a beautiful, classic Cote Rotie nose of bacon fat, roasted meats, tapenade, sweet raspberry, and cassis. Again, the attack was impressive, the wine medium-bodied, but the finish angular and acidic. Nevertheless, I still liked it very much but would drink it over the next 3-4 years before the rather delicate fruit fades. These are modern-styled wines that possess considerable toasty oak in their youth, but in the best vintages this component becomes nicely integrated with time.Importer: Diageo Chateau Estate Wines, New York, NY; tel.
