Confuron's Romanee St.-Vivant smells as if it were made at the Domaine Leroy. The huge nose of flowers, licorice, sweet oak, and extraordinarily ripe black-cherries and black-raspberries is profound. In the mouth, the wine is closed, but its huge, weighty, massive extraction of fruit, decent acidity, and blazingly well-defined personality make for a compelling example of Pinot Noir. According to Confuron, his vines from Romanee St.-Vivant were planted in 1920. This offering should be at its best between 1995-2012 . If you can find any, it is a must purchase.
