An intense, complex nose of toast, yeast, earth, brine and mushroom opens this luxury cuvee. Medium-full and soft, by Dom Perignon standards, the palate offers subtle, light green herbs, sweet citrus and honey flavors. Lemon and lime predominate on the long, smooth finish. Classy stuff, if not possessed of the reserve or spine of the top vintages. Fortunately, that actually means it drinks better now than most Dom of comparable age. Best now through 2010.——W.E.(12/15/2001)—— 92
