Tasted at the Montrose vertical, the 1919 Montrose was a heavenly wine that shocked one and all. It has a wonderful, lively bouquet that is very well defined with vestiges of red berry fruit tinged with lavender, frail at first but remarkably gaining intensity in the glass. In fact, three hours after first pouring, I served another glass and it was even livelier than before! The palate is beautifully balanced with blood orange and slightly candied fruit that tapers towards a precise, Burgundy-like finish. Remarkable in every way. Tasted May 2016.
