At age 101, the 1921 Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande continues to offer up inviting aromas of ripe berries, dried fruits, cedarwood, confit orange and spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple and giving palate with a sweet core of fruit, melted tannins and an impressively penetrating finish. There's obviously no reason to defer gratification any longer, but the 1921 remains vivid and compelling testimony to the greatness of this decade in Bordeaux.
