In a blind tasting of Graves I participated in, in Bordeaux, I thought the 1987 Les Carmes Haut-Brion was a Haut-Brion. Its intense, smoky, ripe, curranty nose is powerful and soars from the glass. In the mouth, the wine is rich and very soft, with an opulent finish. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 3/90.
