The 2007 Pinot Noir Athena, a multi-regional blend produced from Dijon clones, is medium ruby-colored with a garnet rim, it delivers a slightly reticent nose of Asian spices, incense, black cherry and black raspberry. Medium-bodied on the palate with ample spicy fruit, a round texture, and lively acidity, it has enough structure to evolve for 1-2 years, and should drink well over the next 7 years.
Boedecker Cellars is the winery of husband/wife team Athena Pappas and Stewart Boedecker. The wines are all produced from contracted fruit and bottled in Stelvin screw caps in their new winery in an industrial section of Portland. Many of their wines are held back for an additional year of bottle aging.
