The 2011 Veigas de Padrinan is similar to the Eidos but sees at least 11 months in tank. It offers a fresh lychee and grapefruit scented bouquet that is full of energy and vigor. The palate is lively with crisp cooking apple, pear-skin and nectarine on the entry and the racy acidity keeps everything straight and linear, the finish almost terse and Zen-like. This is excellent! The 2009 Veigas de Padrinan was sourced from 80+-year-old vines. It reveals a similar personality profile but with greater breadth and concentration on the palate. While this may already be in its latter stages of freshness, it’s still offering nice lemon and minerality on the nose. It’s more flat and melony in the mouth, with apple flavors running the show. Fleshy on the finish, but tasting quite nice.——M.S.(7/1/2011)—— 88

The 2008 Veiga de Padrinan was sourced from ungrafted 80+-year-old vines. It is a bit more terroir-driven with an intense mineral element, earth notes, lemon, and floral rudiments.
