The serious, Provencal-inspired 2007 Version, a blend of 42% Mourvedre, 22% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 9% Counoise, and 7% Cinsault, has a beautifully complex nose of roasted herbs, black cherries, black currants, lavender, and tobacco leaf. It’s a dead ringer for a peppery southern Rhone. Silky, round, full-bodied flavors coat the mouth, but are never heavy or cloying. This is a beauty to drink over the next 5-6 years. One of the better wineries in Paso Robles, Adelaida continues to turn out high quality wines that remain realistically priced. Kudos to winemaker Terry Culton, who continues to show a fine talent for producing quality wines from Adelaida Cellars.Tel. (800) 676-1232; Fax (805) 239-4671
