The Adelina Block 1 was originally planted to Cabernet Sauvignon in 1976, and in 2015, the vines were grafted over to a Southern Rh?ne selection of Shiraz, Grenache, Mataro, Ugni Blanc, Roussanne and Marsanne. Here, the 2022 Field Blend from these vines leads with a spicy, roasted meat nose, littered with pink peppercorns, red apple skins, cherries and green olive brine. The impact of white grapes in this wine is curiously distinct: it adds a floral clarity to the finish and pulls into focus the top red notes from the red grapes. It's a very fine, light red wine, with a web-like splay of tannins that settle on the palate. It feels co-fermented. Delicate. 12.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

This 2021 Field Blend is light, leafy, spicy and bright, with layers of red berries, pink peppercorns and brine both on the nose and in the mouth. There's an aromatic alpine herb character that I love. This is a slim wine, with curves and spine in all the right places.
