Grown in vineyards near the caveau in Orange, the 2020 Cotes du Rhone Blanc de Viognier is fresh, floral and slightly tight, with notes of lime zest and stone fruit that take a little while to unfurl. Medium to full-bodied, it's crisp and citrusy on the finish, a welcome contrast to many Viogniers from outside Northern Rh?ne.

A rare good Viognier from the Southern Rh?ne, the 2019 Domaine Grand Veneur Cotes du Rhone Blanc de Viognier offers delectable floral and apricot aromas, a medium-bodied, taut feel on the palate and a cool, refreshing finish tinged with citrus zest and silk. Drink it over the next year.

Perhaps not the strongest vintage of this cuvée, the 2018 Cotes du Rhone Blanc de Viognier remains an attractive wine for early consumption. It's crisp and floral, medium-bodied and silky, with a clean, fresh finish.

A terrific value, the 2017 Domaine Grand Veneur Cotes du Rhone Blanc de Viognier displays all of the variety's floral, spicy nuances. Apricot, white pepper and ginger all mingle on the nose, while the medium-bodied palate draws to a long, chalk-laden close.

The outstanding 2015 Cotes du Rhone Blanc de Viognier is another killer value. Ample notes of tangerine, crushed rocks, flowers and crisp white peach soar from the glass of this layered, medium-bodied, classy and lengthy white that has both freshness and richness. Drink it over the coming year.
