Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune, Bichot’s 2011 Chambertin Grand Cru has a very savory, meaty bouquet with some brettanomyces smothering the fruit, plus a bit of reduction that does not help. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins, slightly lower acidity than its peers with an animal finish that detracts from typicity. This is a strange showing for a Chambertin.
