An IGT blend of 70% Viognier and 30% Petit Manseng, the 2015 Casòn Hirschprunn Tenutae Lageder is a bold, full-bodied white that shows generous oak influences but with balanced precision. The wine opens to an off-gold color with toasted, nutty aromas followed by summer peach and dried apricot. The grape I taste with the most distinction is the Viognier, thanks to the creamy, almost oily nature of the mouthfeel and those floral, honey-like endnotes. The finish is soft, layered and slightly sweet. The intensity is bright and bold. Only 6,600 bottles were produced. Sadly, this wine is not available in the United States market.
