A worthy follow up to the gorgeous 2010, the 2011 Syrah is a 100% Syrah that was aged in a scant 11% new French oak, with the balance being completely neutral barrels. Fermented with 45% whole cluster, it offers up a Northern Rhone-like bouquet of blackberry, raspberry, mineral, violets and underbrush to go with a soft, supple and completely delicious palate. Showing no hard edges, excellent purity and a solid focus, it is more supple and approachable than the 2010 and will delight over the coming 5-6 years. All Syrah from Les Collines, Seven Hills and Pepper Bridge vineyards, and aged in a scant 14% new French oak, it exudes fruit and texture with a plump, sexy, full-bodied profile that carries ripe plum, blueberry, licorice and pepper nuances on both the nose and palate.
