This is the top Barbera selection of a very sizeable operation, close to 2000 acres of vineyards, and the 2001 Barbera d’Asti Rive impresses with its important blackish ruby color and its expansive spicy, tarry, and charred nose. The palate is equally convincing, with a fullness balanced by much softness, ripe and glycerine-rich flavors, and a satiny texture, the high alcohol kept in check by a discreet, refreshing acidity.
