The more modern red 2015 Finca Monasterio shows higher ripeness, more color and concentration and, in general, a more modern profile, which is not necessarily better or worse, it's a matter of personal taste. The technical data talks about 85% Tempranillo with 15% others, which usually means Cabernet Sauvignon. 150,000 bottles produced.

Espresso and licorice notes give this firm red an austere, almost bitter character, but there's a core of currant fruit that opens to a floral finish. The metallic-labelled 2012 Finca Monasterio must have been very recently bottled, by the looks of the cork and feels very fruit-forward, clean and juicy, with an equally juicy palate with glossy tannins and good balance. 150,000 bottles

The 2010 Finca Monasterio is very dark, with a modern profile of black fruits, smoke, peat and espresso coffee, showing plenty of toasty oak notes. It’s concentrated but well-balanced, intense, with penetrating flavors, still on the young side showing the effect of the toasty oak. Give it a little more time in bottle. Drink 2015-2019.
