From a Mount Veeder vineyard that's also a perennial component of the Private Reserve bottling, the 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Lampyridae Vineyard features notes of blueberries, cassis and sage—just lovely mountain-fruit aromas. It's medium to full-bodied, reasonably concentrated and rich, with dark chocolate and black olive overtones on the finish, underscored by bright acids and chewy tannins.

Sourced from a site on Mount Veeder that, at 2,200 feet above sea level, is one of the highest vineyards in Napa, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Lampyridae Vineyard lies largely above the fog line. The blueberry and cassis notes are intense, accented by some sexy cedar and vanilla shadings. Full-bodied, velvety and long, with ample ripe tannins, it's a fine effort, with potential to improve with a decade in the cellar.

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Lampyridae Vineyard is made of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 21 months in 100% new French oak. Deep garnet-purple colored, it leaps from the glass with notes of black cherries, fresh blackberries and blackcurrants with touches of tilled soil, garrigue, wild thyme and black tea. Full, firm, grainy and laden with black fruits and earthy layers, it finishes with great length. 219 cases produced.

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Lampyridae Vineyard is made of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 21 months in 100% new French oak. As for the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Lampyridae Vineyard, this comes from a 2,800-foot elevation on Mt. Veeder. The wine offers incredibly sweet blueberry and blackberry fruit, some licorice, graphite, charcoal, an almost volcanic earthiness, and beautiful, sweet, velvety tannins. There are 283 cases, but again, all of this wine is sold directly to Beringer’s private membership club.
