The 2014 Tréje is a southern Italian mix of 40% Merlot, 40% Syrah and 20% Aglianico. This super Lucania value wine is soft and velvety with loads of dark fruit and plum. This wine represents an unbelievable value buy, and one that I enthusiastically recommend. You get so much power and depth here with a bouquet that peels back in many deep layers. Prune and blackberry segue to spice, leather and tar. The Basilicata imprinting is strong and the Aglianico component - with its distinctively ashy overtones - is what stands out most in terms of aromas. The other two international grapes give the wine more pulp and softness in terms of texture.

A blend of Merlot, Syrah and Aglianico, the 2013 Tréje is a soft and luscious red wine with wild-berry tones, smoked bacon, black pepper and crushed brimstone or flint. The wine shows dimension and personality with firm tannins and loads of ash and smoke on the close. Tréje is a great value option to pair with grilled sausage or ravioli topped with meat ragù.

The 2008 Treje is an intriguing blend of Aglianico, Merlot and Syrah. Juicy dark cherries, plums, tobacco, incense and new leather flesh out in this irresistible, totally delicious red. Best of all, the Treje is a gorgeous wine for the money. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2016. I rarely hear any buzz about Mario Bisceglia’s wines, which is suprising as these reds are loaded with real personality and class. Bisceglia's 2007 Treje is a stainless steel-aged blend of equal parts Aglianico, Merlot and Syrah. Sweet spices, leather and super-ripe dark fruit flow effortlessly from this balanced, voluptuous red. Clearly this is a more internationally styled red, but it works. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017. The estate’s 2006 Treje is a blend of Aglianico, Merlot and Syrah aged in 100% new French oak. Super-ripe, opulent fruit comes through with tons of personality as this forward wine shows off its pedigree. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2013.
