The 2006 Gran Reserva, a blend of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, spent 12 months in a mix of new and used French and American oak. Purple-colored, it offers up a complex nose of cedar, tobacco, spice box, black cherry, and black currant. Layered and savory on the palate, the wine has excellent depth and balance. There is enough structure for 1-2 years of further development and it should be at its best from 2011 to 2018. Importer: Gaucho Imports, Albuquerque, NM; www.gauchoimports.com
