Produced from 100% Monastrell, the 2006 Castano Rosado is medium-pink colored with an excellent nose of black cherries and a hint of minerality in the background. Dry, full and with integrity, this mild-mannered rosado sings in a steady, firm voice. It doesn't go beyond the basics of semicrisp berry flavors and a touch of pepper. It's good wine made from the local Monastrell (Mourvedre), but dialed back; expect no bells or whistles.——M.S.(7/1/2007)—— 85
