Bodegas Fruto Villar’s 2005 Calderona Crianza is 100% Tempranillo from the underrated DO of Cigales. The wine was aged for 12 months in predominantly American oak. It delivers an enticing nose of cedar, spice box, violets, tapenade, and blackberry. This is followed by a surprisingly complex, medium-bodied, savory wine that over-delivers in a big way.
