Red fruit is the dominant player on both the raspberry-driven bouquet and the currant- and cherry-laced palate. In the mouth there’s integrity, natural acidity and restrained oak as opposed to heft and unnecessary burnt coffee and chocolate notes. Very clean and well made wine with aging potential. A stand-alone project from Martinez-Bujanda that is spicy, leafy and not unlike good Bordeaux. The wine is a Tempranillo-dominated blend that includes some Cabernet. It has herbal, leafy aromas along with cherry and vanilla, and then zest, acidity and tannin on the palate. Well made and ready for the dinner table.——M.S.(9/1/2004)—— 90
