The 2006 Seleccion Privada is made up of 65% Merlot and 35% Tempranillo aged for 16 months in 100% new French oak. It exhibits an earthy minerality, spice box, tobacco, violets, and assorted black fruits leading to a sweetly fruited, nicely proportioned wine with good volume and length. Give it another 2-3 years of cellaring and drink it through 2021. Bodegas y Vinedos Alzania was started in 1999 by owner/winemaker Jose Manuel.
