Much better, the 2010 Syrah Star Lane Vineyard (95% Syrah and 5% Viognier) offers up pretty plum, blackberry, violet and floral aromas and flavors to go with a medium-bodied, juicy, and nicely focused feel on the palate. There’s lots of acidity here, yet it’s reasonably well-integrated, and the overall impression is one of freshness and purity. Enjoy it over the coming 5-6 years. The 2008 Syrah Star Lane Vineyard is another gorgeous, supple wine. The Star Lane seems to bring together the best qualities of the Bien Nacido and Larner. Deep layers of fruit come to life as this rich, fleshy Syrah blossoms on the mid-palate. This is a gorgeous Syrah endowed, with tons of character and sheer personality. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016. This is a solid set of wines from Bonaccorsi. The winery sources fruit from a large number of vineyards, so not surprisingly, there is some variability in the end results. Still the very best wines in this lineup are exciting and worthy of serious attention. The Pinot spends 18-20 months in French oak barrels, 50-60% new, while the Syrahs are co-fermented with 4-5% Viognier and spend 20 months in French oak barrels, 75% new. Tel. The 2007 Syrah Star Lane Vineyard is a gorgeous, deep wine endowed with considerable character. Blackberries, blueberries and asphalt come together nicely in this tightly wound, structured Syrah. The Star Lane is a blend of Estrella and 383 clones, with 3% Viognier, which was co-fermented. The wine was aged in French oak, of which 70% was new. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017. The Chardonnays and Pinots are the highlights among these new releases from Bonaccorsi Wine Company. I was less enamored with the 2007 Syrahs I tasted.
