This wine shows great balance between dark fruit, mineral and spice. It gives equal billing to all these important aromatic pieces to create nice harmony with long-lasting effects. Brunello also tends to show the most structure and fruit weight among these new releases. Ready to hit the market this fall, this is a 6,200-bottle release.

Packaged with a black label, the Boroli 2018 Barolo Brunella (with only 2,000 bottles made) sources its fruit from beautiful Castiglione Falletto at the heart of the appellation. Specifically, the grapes come from a 2.8-hectare parcel with clay calcareous soils at a breezy 380 meters in elevation. Like the Villero (that is also from Castiglione Falletto), this wine has no issue with intensity or clarity of aromas. That's saying a lot in a rather subdued vintage such as 2018. Instead, you get bright cherry, spice and even a hint of fragrant cedarwood. The wine's structure is solid and polished.
