The 2009 vintage, at this early date with most of the Pinot Noirs still in barrel, appears to be a forward, friendly year for near-term drinking. Broadley’s 2009 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley is in bottle and ready to go. The vintage does not lack for alcohol and this is a big, soft, plush quaffer with no hard edges but plenty of Pinot Noir character. It is also an excellent value for drinking over the next 3-4 years. Broadley Vineyards is located in southern Willamette Valley closer to Eugene than Portland. This family-owned winery sources fruit from prime AVAs in northern Willamette Valley as well as from their own estate. The winery utilizes 30% new oak on all of their Pinots.Tel. Broadley’s 2008 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley was bottled in June, 2009. A blend of three vineyards, it is a preview of just how good the 2008 vintage is in Willamette Valley. It offers up the superb perfume characteristic of the vintage; unlike 2007 in which spice notes dominate the aromatics, in 2008 fruit and floral aromas have the upper hand. On the palate it has layered, succulent cherry and raspberry fruit with excellent depth and balancing acidity.
