Smoke, slate, juicy peaches are some of the notes that take shape as the 2011 Gavi di Gavi Bruno Broglia opens up in the glass. This is a rare, pedigreed Gavi that stands apart for its sheer character, something that is exceedingly rare for Gavi. Layers of fruit build to the textured, inviting finish. Although I normally don’t suggest aging Gavi, I also would not at all be surprised if the 2011 Bruno Broglia develops nicely with further time in bottle. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016.
Broglia is one of the very few producers in Gavi turning out distinctive wines that deserve attention.
