The 2006 Nattan is also Tempranillo, but feels much more complex, concentrated and deep than the straight Tempranillo. The nose is ripe with black rather than red cherries, and there is a nice layer of spices that provide complexity. It is the 2006 that feels the youngest out of the four I tasted from Buezo. The palate is medium-bodied with fully resolved tannins; it is round and soft with moderate acidity, velvety and so easy to drink while showing some depth of flavors. This is a traditional, polished Tempranillo.

The 2005 Nattan is pure Tempranillo from 15-year-old vineyards on deep, chalky soils aged for 12 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels. It has aromas of dark cherries and spices, with hints of smoke, and is quite fresh for its age, with a certain rusticity. The palate is medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a little bit of warmth toward the finish. Somehow I feel better balance in the blend with Petit Verdot, but this is a fine Tempranillo. Drink now-2017. I tasted the 2005s from Buezo together with the 2004s, which were tasted last year by Neal, and the newer vintage is clearly superior, with better definition and more purity. One of the more interesting names in Arlanza. The winery was created in the year 2000 and they work exclusively with the fruit from their own vineyards, 45 hectares planted between 1999 and 2000. No known American importer but they export to Switzerland and Germany.

The 2004 Nattan is made up of 70% Tempranillo and 30% Tannat. Opaque purple-colored, it offers up a brooding bouquet of underbrush, brier, spice box, blackberry, and black cherry. Concentrated, dense, and structured on the palate, it has the balance to evolve gracefully for another 3-4 years. If it all comes together, my score will seem conservative.
