The young and unoaked still white 2021 Blanc Selecció is a blend of Parellada, Macabeo, Chardonnay, Xarello and Malvasía de Sitges with 12% alcohol and a low pH, reflecting a cooler year with rain and snow and a dry summer with some rain that helped the ripening of the grapes. It has notes of white fruit and flowers. It showcases the house style of elegance, transparency and harmony—elegant and clean wines. It' a very good vintage for this wine that is not showy or exuberant, but I like its restraint.106,967 bottles produced. It was bottled from March 2022.

The white that represents the biggest volume of Can Feixes, the 2018 Blanc Selecció is a round and gastronomical wine that respects food. It has a long, fresh and non-invasive personality and can deal with a wide range of dishes, not only fish and seafood. It's a multigrape blend of Parellada, Macabeo, Chardonnay, Xarello and a little Malvasía de Sitges with the idea that none of the varieties should dominate the aromas or flavors. It's shy, elegant and fresh, with a classical and elegant profile, which is the house style here. The unoaked wine was kept with lees until it was bottled in March 2019. This is half of the winery's total production, with 107,720 bottles produced.

The 2013 Can Feixes Blanc Selecció comes a very reliable producer of affordable Cava and Penedès whites, It's an unusual blend of 39% Parellada, 36% Macabeo, 19% Chardonnay and 6% Malvasia de Sitges. It seems to be suffering from the bottling with some sulfur aromas masking the otherwise fruit-driven and floral nose of this unoaked cuvée that matured for three months in contact with the lees. The palate is a little piquant like the nose, and fills the mouth with lively acidity and focused, clean flavors that are not terribly complex but are very honest and approachable. Different lots are bottled throughout the year and I probably got the last lot, which would require some time to gain harmony. 106,650 bottles of this wine are produced in eight different lots. A little patience is required.

The 2012 Can Feixes Blanc Seleccio is an unoaked blend of Parellada, Macabeo, Chardonnay and Malvasia de Sitges which seems to be a little backward and closed, with subtle aromas of white flowers, peaches, apples and pears, and a fresh, quite straightforward, fruit-driven palate, with good acidity to go well with light starters or simple fish. Very good value and highly recommended. Drink now. Can Feixes is a good source for clean, true-to-their-type, affordable wines. I had a preview of a very good 2008 Chardonnay which I enjoyed, but they won’t release it until 2015, so it will hopefully be reviewed in the next round. The 2011 Can Feixes Blanc Seleccio, a blend of 40% Parellada, 36% Macabeu, 18% Chardonnay and 6% Malvasia de Sitges raised in stainless-steel tanks, has a fresh bouquet with notes of grass clippings and lemon peel as well as a touch of jasmine. The palate is well-balanced and nervy, with lime, green apple and asparagus on the entry. It is very tight at the moment, but it certainly has the substance to merit aging in bottle, while the finish has a pleasant touch of bell pepper lingering on the aftertaste. Drink 2013-2017. I visited Can Feixes at the end of my day touring the region. It is a picturesque property located in the extreme northwest of Alt Penedes that dates back to the 15th century, a place suffused with an ecclesiastical atmosphere. Here there is a drier, more continental influence on the microclimate since it lies some 30 kilometers inland. Their focus is upon Parellada (known locally as “Montonec”), although the three brothers who run the 80-hectare estate also tend Macabeu, Chardonnay and Malvasia de Sitges. The emphasis for their dry whites is to “reflect the fruit character.” Unusually, their vineyard also contains a small amount of Malvasia.
