This is a stripped down red wine that just offers the bare bone basics. The 2015 Rosso di Montalcino reveals standard Sangiovese aromas of cherry, wild berry and cola. The mouthfeel is fleshy and fruity, and there is a refreshing point of acidity on the close.

The 2013 Rosso di Montalcino starts off on a slightly awkward note with pungent tones of sour cherry and raw spice that butt up sharply against each other. There's a jammy note to the fruit that resembles sun-dried apricot or pineapple. Bitter cherry accompanies a compact finish with moderate palate persistency.

Remo Giannelli’s 2012 Rosso di Montalcino boasts a pretty appearance with dark concentration and a good sense of color saturation that extends to the rim of the glass. The bouquet is redolent of spice, bright fruit and cola backed by touches of cured meat and raw spice. This is a sassy wine that shows a good inner energy and personality. Drink: 2014-2017.
