The 2005 Leiwener Laurentiuslay Riesling Auslese A.P. #14 represents a block harvest rather than a selection. Melon and honey dominate on the nose and palate, with hints of caramelized peach and sweet distilled herbal essences adding support. There is a faintly milky cast on the palate which I don’t find unattractive as much as I do odd. A rich, honeyed finish folds in notes of faintly bitter melon rind, salts, and lightly caramelized peach.
