The dark ruby-colored, medium-bodied 2001 Syrah reveals textbook blackberry fruit in its aromas and flavors. Although not complex, it is a fruit-driven, easy to drink red. Restaurants would be smart to sell this one by the glass given its widespread appeal. Proprietor Tony Cartlidge deserves accolades from consumers who are fed up with overpriced wines. He continues to demonstrate a masterful touch in fashioning blends that are faithful to their varietal characters yet are filled with fruit as well as pure, consumer-friendly styles.
