I am a huge fan of Sicilian Syrah, but this wine had me scratching my head. The 2010 Delia Nivolelli Syrah Riserva is massively overdone with thick layers of teriyaki sauce and barbecue smoke that are concentrated, rich and sticky. The fruit is very ripe and soft. There are some pretty notes of cola and licorice at the back that thankfully give the wine more definition. Overall, this wine is extremely heavy and may prove difficult to pair with food.
