Glossy and luminous in appearance, the Casa d'Ambra 2021 Ischia Forastera is made with an early-ripening variety pretty much only found on the islands of Procida and Ischia (where this blessed wintery is located). The vines are about 20 years old, but the mysterious Forastera (thought to be named after the word "foreign") has existed on the island for 200 years. Made only in stainless steel, it offers sweet peach, honeydew melon and ripe apple. Salty tones of sea breeze also appear in this wine. Production is 21,000 bottles.

From the Forastera grape that is found in limited geographical points throughout the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands, this is a spectacular white wine. I can't contain my enthusiasm for all these beautiful wines in the Casa d'Ambra portfolio. The 2019 Ischia Forastera shows seamless aromas of peach, sweet lemon and crushed seashell that meet together in a point of unity and balance. This release of more than 20,000 bottles is salty and fruity at the same time, creating a flavor profile that is perfect for a fish cooked in a crust of sea salt.

The beautiful 2017 Ischia Forastera opens to a bright and luminous color. You may have never heard of the Forastera grape that is largely limited to the islands of Ischia and Procida in Italy. In Spain, it is found on the Canary Islands. The wine is fragrant and bright with easy but immediately attractive fragrances of peach and white flower. The mouthfeel is simple and lean, but this wine exhibits a unique and exciting personality nonetheless. Some 21,000 bottles were made.

The 2015 Ischia Forastera is another fantastic white wine that gives you a unique window onto the little-known Forastera grape. This wine was previously named Euposia, but that fantasy name seems to have been dropped from the front label. The bouquet here is compelling and intriguing, with moderate levels of citrus fruit followed by more prominent tones of crushed oyster shell, salty sea breeze and wild sage. This dry wine closes on a zesty and lively note that leaves a lasting impression.
