Easy going at first, the 2004 Quinta dos Grilos has an initial sweet ‘n’ sour note to it that wasn’t quite to my taste. It is a blend of Touriga National and Alfrocheiro. As it aired out, I liked it more, as the parts knitted together. The tannins popped out, and became rather fierce for an inexpensive wine. The winery believes that it is a wine to drink relatively young, but it does have structure, and is by no means a fruit bomb. It was held six months in French oak. This is a fair deal for the suggested retail price. Drink now-2012.Importer: Grape Moments, a Division of Sintra Imports, New Bedford, MA; tel. (508) 997-0100
