Castelli is a much-loved estate in Western Australia for its regionally expressive, excellent quality wines, which deliver brilliant value for money. This 2018 Frankland River Cabernet Sauvignon came from a period that undoubtedly crowned Castelli's heydays, from an excellent vintage to boot. Iodine, ironstone and crushed rocks lead the aromatics, while the palate speaks of Black Forest fruits, graphite tannins and loads of tobacco leaf/cigar box. The thrust of gritty tannins here are so eloquent of the dirt. Powerful and unforced wines from this area, no doubt. 14.7% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.
