The 2007 Franciacorta Collezione Grandi Cru Brut is 100% Chardonnay with 10% in oak. There’s a subtle and subdued quality to this wine and its aromas are presented in a slightly more austere and streamlined fashion. Those drying Brut characteristics give the wine a sharply defined, elegant finish displaying a touch of toasted almond. Drink: 2014-2017. This family-run winery was started by father and son team Gian Paolo and Giovanni Cavalleri back in 1979 with a small production of just 6,000 bottles. Maintaining its petite, family-run framework, the winery sources fruit from two dozen specific vineyard sites surrounding the town of Erbusco at the heart of Franciacorta.
