The 2007 Franciacorta Rose is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Nero that sees only a small part aged in oak. This is a delicate and feminine wine with faint aromas of wild berry and dried cranberry. There’s a thin veil of mineral crispness that gives the wine an extra sense of backbone, structure and dryness. This bottle was disgorged in 2012. Drink: 2014-2018. This family-run winery was started by father and son team Gian Paolo and Giovanni Cavalleri back in 1979 with a small production of just 6,000 bottles. Maintaining its petite, family-run framework, the winery sources fruit from two dozen specific vineyard sites surrounding the town of Erbusco at the heart of Franciacorta.
