The 2007 Franciacorta Rose is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Nero that sees only a small part aged in oak. This is a delicate and feminine wine with faint aromas of wild berry and dried cranberry. There’s a thin veil of mineral crispness that gives the wine an extra sense of backbone, structure and dryness. This bottle was disgorged in 2012. Drink: 2014-2018.
This family-run winery was started by father and son team Gian Paolo and Giovanni Cavalleri back in 1979 with a small production of just 6,000 bottles. Maintaining its petite, family-run framework, the winery sources fruit from two dozen specific vineyard sites surrounding the town of Erbusco at the heart of Franciacorta. The house style, based primarily on Chardonnay, shows very fruit-forward wines laced with baking spice and cinnamon.
