The 2005 TOURIGA NACIONAL RESERVA (QUINTA DA GARRIDA) is quite elegant in mid-palate weight, focused and precise, but showing a fair bit of oak, along with some power on the finish. This benefits greatly from some air, as it begins to show some character, rather than just the oak, becoming a bit gamey and earthy. This should age gracefully and develop with time. Drink now-2017. Caves Alianca and its sister winery Bacalhoa provide some pretty decent values in this report. Just remember that these and most entry level wines hit peak fast and usually need to be drunk on the younger and fresher side for best results.Importer: Tri-Vin Imports, Mt. Vernon, NY; tel.
