The 2011 Tumbarumba Chardonnay is 100% fermented in French oak barriques, 30% of which is new oak. Though the wine undergoes no malolactic fermentation, it is left on full lees for 12-14 months. The resulting light to medium-bodied wine offers savory notes of baker’s yeast, toasted cashews and meal with hints of orange peel, white pepper and chalk on the nose followed by a crisp, elegantly fruited palate with a medium to long finish. Drink it now through 2015. Chalkers Crossing does not currently have a US importer.
