The 2010 Sauvignon Blanc Reserve spent 11 months in French oak of which 30% is new. The wood comes through on the nose that is clean and crisp, although that oak almost mutates the aromatics into a well-meaning Chardonnay. The palate is well defined with a slightly herbaceous entry, crisp acidity and a light, focused finish of lemon peel and lime. This is very fine (even if it does have pretensions towards another grape variety!) Drink now-2015. I have been an admirer of Cape Chamonix, one of Franschhoek's finest estates, for several years and their most recent releases are thoughtfully crafted and full of personality.Importer: Knauth & Visser LLC; Tel 203.488.6665
