The 2010 Pinot Noir Reserve is whole barrel fermented and raised for 16 months in Allier barriques of which 80% is new. It has a tertiary, wild mushroom-scented with good clarity and then upon aeration it offers scents of dried flowers. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannins. There are fresh dark cherry and boysenberry notes, a fine seam of minerality and certainly good substance towards the finish. Give this a year in bottle to coalesce a little more. Drink 2013-2018. I have been an admirer of Cape Chamonix, one of Franschhoek's finest estates, for several years and their most recent releases are thoughtfully crafted and full of personality.Importer: Knauth & Visser LLC; Tel 203.488.6665
