La Nerthe's 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc—mainly Roussanne and Grenache Blanc, with smaller amounts of Clairette and Bourboulenc—offers attractive notes of wood spice, honeyed pear and tangerine. Fermented and matured in a mix of barriques, demi-muids and tanks, it's medium to full-bodied, plump, silky textured and long. Overall, it's harmonious despite being a bit oaky, charming and easy to drink.

Subtle scents of pencil shavings and toasted almonds accent lime and tangerine notes on the nose of La Nerthe's 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc. A blend of 40% Grenache Blanc, 34% Roussanne, 20% Clairette and 6% Bourboulenc, with the Roussanne made in barrels (one-third new), it's a medium to full-bodied, generous wine that has enough structure to keep it refreshing on the long, citrusy finish.

La Nerthe's whites are stunning in 2018. The 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc features scents of crushed stone, pineapple and tangerine, while being plush and ripe on the palate. It's full-bodied yet not fat or unbalanced, with vibrant, lime-like acids that prolong the silky-textured finish. Yum!

Reassuringly on form, the 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc offers harmonious citrus notes of tangerine and lime, all carried by a medium to full-bodied palate that's silky, briny and zesty, showing great freshness and length. It's mainly Grenache Blanc and Roussanne, with lesser amounts of Clairette and Bourboulenc.

The two whites from Chateau la Nerthe include the 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc, which was tasted out of bottle and is 42% Grenache, 30% Roussanne, 17% Clairette and the rest Bourboulenc. Aged 70% in tank and 30% in barrel, it has classic notes of melons, citrus, sappy flowers and a hint of menthol in a medium-bodied, clean, ultra-pure style. I like it now, but this beauty will age.
