An undeniable sleeper of the vintage, this dense ruby/purple-colored 2010 over-delivers in every wine tasting category. With plenty of fruit, body and purity as well as complex notes of charcoal, black currants and sweet, jammy cherries, this substantial, delicious, silky textured Bordeaux Superieur should provide plenty of pleasure during its first 5-6 years of life.

This 100% Merlot from the highly regarded producer Jean-Philippe Janoueix has a dense plum/purple color and a big sweet kiss of mocha, black cherry, forest floor and earth. Its loads of fruit, unctuous texture and full-bodied mouthfeel make this Bordeaux Superieur taste more like a Grand Cru Classe. Drink it over the next 5-6 years.

Another sleeper of the vintage, this outstanding producer has fashioned a dark ruby/purple-colored 2008 offering hints of black currants, blueberries, charcoal and spice box. It is a round, generous, medium-bodied, pure wine to drink over the next 5-6 years.

One of the finest Bordeaux Superieurs I tasted, this sexy, dark ruby/purple-tinged 2007 is a sleeper of the vintage. It reveals plenty of licorice, smoke, white chocolate, and berry fruit-like notes in its heady, lush personality. Consume it over the next 2-3 years.

A top-notch effort from Jean-Philippe Janoueix, this blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc is a sleeper of the vintage. Its deep ruby/purple color is accompanied by sweet blackberry and black currant fruit, licorice, earth, and camphor notes, a fleshy, succulent mid-palate, and a ripe finish. A very good wine from a humble appellation, qualitatively it transcends its pedigree. Excellent value.
